Korean splits consonants three ways where English has two. This is the one place English speakers need real practice.

How to feel the difference

Hold a slip of paper in front of your mouth.

Aspirated (ㅋㅌㅍㅊ) — the paper jumps. Big puff.

Tense (ㄲㄸㅃㅆㅉ) — the paper does not move at all. Throat tight, sound clipped.
