The single most useful question when you cannot read a menu.
이거 · i-geothis thing (near me)
그거 · geu-geothat thing (near you)
저거 · jeo-geothat thing over there (near neither of us)
뭐예요? · mwo-ye-yowhat is it?
Korean splits “that” into two. 그거 is close to the listener; 저거 is far from both. Point at a dish on your own table → 이거. Point across the restaurant → 저거.
And the answer
Point, ask, and the reply comes back in the same shape: 이거 김치예요 — “this is kimchi”.
