Offering politely-(으)시겠어요? · 무엇을 드시겠어요?
Asking about a plan-(으)실 거예요? · 내일 오실 거예요?
Three questions decide the ending
① Who is this about? — If it’s someone senior, -(으)시- goes in.
② When? — Right now, keep it as is; already happened, add -셨-.
③ Where, and how formal? — Everyday conversation: -어요. A formal setting: -ㅂ니다. Offering or asking: -실래요/-시겠어요/-실 거예요.
할머니께서 어제 병원에 다녀오셨어요.everyday conversation + already happened = -셨어요
사장님께서 지금 회의실에 계십니다.a formal setting + right now = -십니다
이거 좀 드셔 보실래요?a casual offer = -실래요
Changing only one part sounds off. Always check both the word that changes completely (밥→진지, 먹다→드시다) and the ending (-세요/-셨어요/-십니다) together.
할아버지께서 밥을 드셨어요. (✕ — the noun wasn’t changed)
할아버지께서 진지를 드셨어요. (○)
