When to Use Formal (-ㅂ/습니다) vs Polite (-아/어요)

In Korean, both -ㅂ/습니다 (격식체) and -아/어요 (해요체) are polite and respectful. But they belong in completely different settings!

1. Formal Style (-
- Public & Professional: Job interviews, business presentations, news broadcasts, subway announcements, and military.
- Creates professional distance and serious authority.

2. Polite Informal Style (-
- Warm & Everyday: Talking with coworkers, neighbors, teachers, café staff, and friends.
- Creates friendly, approachable warmth.
