When describing how a situation changed due to circumstances, outside events, or time, use -게 되다 (*“turned out that... / came to do... / ended up doing...”*):

- *“한국 회사에서 일하게 됐어요.”* (I ended up working at a Korean company.)
- *“한국 친구 덕분에 김치를 좋아하게 됐어요.”* (Thanks to my Korean friend, I came to like kimchi.)

Unlike pure personal decisions (*-기로 했어요*), -게 되다 emphasizes the result of changing circumstances.
