What if your main action is NOT a movement verb? *(“I bought a gift to give to my friend”)*

For general intentions with ANY action verb, use -(으)려고:
- *“친구에게 주려고 선물을 샀어요.”* (Bought a gift in order to give it — 샀어요 is not a movement verb!)

And when combined with 하다, -(으)려고 하다 means “I plan to / I intend to...”:
- *“새 컴퓨터를 사려고 해요.”* (I plan to buy a new computer.)
