1강. 이동의 목적: -(으)러 가다 / 오다

To explain why you are going or coming somewhere, attach -(으)러:
- Stem without batchim / ending in ㄹ → -러 가다/오다 *(보다 → 보러 가요, 놀다 → 놀러 가요)*
- Stem with batchim → -으러 가다/오다 *(먹다 → 먹으러 가요)*
CRITICAL RESTRICTION: The verb at the end of the sentence MUST be a movement verb like 가다 (to go), 오다 (to come), or 다니다 (to commute/attend)!
점심 먹다 (eat lunch)가요 · 점심 먹으러 가요 (Going to eat lunch)
친구 만나다 (meet friend)왔어요 · 친구 만나러 왔어요 (Came to meet a friend)
한국어 배우다 (learn Korean)다녀요 · 한국어 배우러 다녀요 (Attending class to learn)
놀다 (play / hang out)가요 · 친구 집에 놀러 가요 (Going over to hang out)
점심 먹으러 가요.I’m heading out to eat lunch.
친구 만나러 왔어요.I came here to meet a friend.
한국어 배우러 학원에 다녀요.I attend an academy to learn Korean.
