2강. 상대에게 하는 약속: -(으)ㄹ게요

-(으)ㄹ게요 means *“I will (do that for you / take care of it)”*.

Crucial rule: It is strictly FIRST PERSON ("I") and represents a promise directly to the listener!

Compare:
- -(으)ㄹ 거예요: A neutral statement of a future plan. *(내일 친구를 만날 거예요 = I will meet a friend tomorrow.)*
- -(으)ㄹ게요: A promise or volunteer made to the listener right now. *(제가 도와줄게요 = I will help you!)*

Volunteering제가 할게요! · I will do it!

Promising to call내일 다시 전화할게요 · I will call you back tomorrow

Heading over10분 뒤에 갈게요 · I will be there in 10 minutes

Paying the bill제가 살게요 · It's on me / I'll buy it!

제가 할게요. 걱정하지 마세요.I will do it. Don’t worry.

내일 다시 전화할게요.I’ll call you again tomorrow.

나중에 연락할게요.I’ll get in touch with you later.
