How is -고 있어요 different from the simple polite ending -아요/-어요?
- -아요/-어요: General habits, states, or actions (e.g., 매일 커피를 마셔요 = I drink coffee every day). - -고 있어요: The action is unfolding right at this exact moment (e.g., 지금 커피를 마시고 있어요 = I am drinking coffee right now).
CRITICAL RULE: Adjectives (descriptive words like 크다, 예쁘다, 바쁘다) CANNOT use -고 있다! You can never say *예쁘고 있어요 or *바쁘고 있어요.
