TOPIK II Vocabulary Workbooks 1–3: How the Series Works and How to Study With It

Word lists are easy to read and hard to remember. The TOPIK II Vocabulary Workbooks turn a word list into something you write: every unit gives you 20 words, then makes you produce the meaning, the Korean word and a sentence of your own before you check the answer key.

Three books, one system

  • Book 1: words 1–1,000, the words that come up most often in our TOPIK II practice material. 50 units of 20 words, from level 3 to level 6.
  • Book 2: the next 1,000 words, ranked 1,001 to 2,000 by the same measure. Also 50 units.
  • Book 3: 940 level-3 words that are not in Books 1 and 2, in 47 units.

The ranking comes from our own TOPIK II practice questions, so it shows what appears often in this kind of material. It is not an official frequency list from the exam organisers.

What is in one unit

  • The 20 words, each with its part of speech, an English meaning and an example sentence with a translation.
  • A level mark (a cheese) and a frequency mark (a potato) so you can see at a glance which words matter most.
  • Writing practice: write the meaning, write the Korean word, and write your own sentence.
  • A unit checkup, and a short note on look-alike words (synonyms and sound-alikes) that learners confuse.
  • A QR code that opens a free match game for the same 20 words.

Answers for every exercise are at the back of the book.

A simple routine

Plan one short, focused session per unit. Fifty units at one unit a day is about seven weeks for a whole book. A pace of three or four units a week is easier to keep up alongside other study, and the checkup at the end of each unit tells you which words to repeat.

  • Day 1: read the 20 words aloud, then do the writing practice without looking.
  • Day 2: do the checkup, mark it with the answer key and circle what you missed.
  • Day 3: play the QR match game on your phone and re-write only the circled words.

Which book first?

Start with Book 1 if you are not sure: it holds the most useful words first. If you have already passed level 3 and want to fill the gaps, Book 3 collects level-3 words the other two do not cover.
