TOPIK I Vocabulary: A Study Plan for All 1,931 Words

TOPIK I covers levels 1 and 2, and our TOPIK I word list has 1,931 words. That sounds like a lot until you cut it into pieces. At 20 words a unit it is 97 units.

How fast can you go?

  • One unit a day: 97 days, about 14 weeks.
  • Five units a week: about 20 weeks, with weekends free for review.
  • Three units a week: about 32 weeks. Slower, but easy to keep up next to a job or classes.

Pick the pace you can still follow in week six. A slow plan you finish beats a fast plan you drop.

Each unit, the same way

  • Read the 20 words with their example sentences, aloud.
  • Write the meaning, write the Korean word and write one sentence of your own.
  • Take the short checkup and mark it against the answer key.
  • Circle what you missed and re-do only those words a few days later.

Do not skip the look-alikes

Learners often mix up words that look or sound alike, or that mean almost the same thing in English. Spend a minute on those notes in each unit instead of treating them as extras.

A book for this is coming
