1강. 동사의 배경 깔기: -는데
-는데 / -(으)ㄴ데 · 7분
Have you noticed native speakers starting sentences with *“…-는데”* before asking a question or making an offer?
- *“지금 마트에 가는데, 뭐 필요해요?”* (I am heading to the supermarket, do you need anything?)
For all verbs in the present tense, simply attach -는데 directly to the stem regardless of batchim! *(Verbs ending in ㄹ drop the ㄹ: 살다 → 사는데)*
가다 (to go)가- · 가는데 · I am going, so/and...
먹다 (to eat)먹- · 먹는데 · I am eating, so/and...
비가 오다 (to rain)오- · 오는데 · It is raining, so/and...
살다 (to live)살- (ㄹ drop) · 사는데 · I live there, so/and...
지금 마트에 가는데, 뭐 필요해요?I’m going to the supermarket now, do you need anything?
밖에 비가 오는데, 우산 있어요?It’s raining outside, do you have an umbrella?
지금 점심 먹는데, 같이 먹을래요?I’m eating lunch right now, want to join?
