-고 와 -지만 · 6분
To link two opposing clauses with “but” or “however”, attach -지만 directly to the stem.
Just like -고, there are no irregular vowel changes: simply glue -지만 straight onto the stem.
비싸다 (expensive)비싸- · 비싸지만 (expensive, but...)
맛있다 (delicious)맛있- · 맛있지만 (delicious, but...)
어렵다 (difficult)어렵- · 어렵지만 (difficult, but...)
작다 (small)작- · 작지만 (small, but...)
비싸지만 맛있어요.It is expensive, but delicious.
작지만 아늑해요.It is small, but cozy.
한국어는 어렵지만 재미있어요.Korean is difficult, but fun.
