Why does it sound different?
  • Double final consonant (겹받침) — Only one of the two final consonants is said (닭 → [닥]).
  • Tensing (경음화) — ㄱ ㄷ ㅂ ㅅ ㅈ after a ㄱ ㄷ ㅂ sound become tense (ㄲ ㄸ ㅃ ㅆ ㅉ).
